Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge

Built in 2003, the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the Charles River in Boston. The project was built as part of the Big Dig, a massive highway construction project in Boston. The bridge was named in honor of the late Lenny Zakim, a civil rights leader in Boston. The second part of the bridge's name recognizes the American colonists who opposed the British in the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775 during the American Revolutionary War.
