Chinatown Gate

Walk through this stunning paifang gate and enter the historic Chinatown district of Boston. The gate was given to the city in 1982, finally providing a recognizable boundary to this popular restaurant district. The lanes between Essex and Stuart Street are crowded with authentic Chinese and Vietnamese eateries. You can also find a unique keepsake in one of the many gift shops that feature traditional Chinese herbal medicines, statuary, and clothing. The Chinatown Gate is positioned at the end of the Rose Kennedy Greenway, connecting it to the Waterfront and Seaport districts.
