Boston Announces 2024 Open Newbury Street Dates

The City of Boston has officially announced the dates for Open Newbury Street, a program that transforms the popular street into a pedestrian-only zone for shopping and family-friendly activities.

The 2024 edition of Open Newbury Street will take place over 10 consecutive Sundays, starting on June 30 and ending on September 1. During this period, the street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Berkeley Street to Massachusetts Avenue from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In March, Mayor Wu hinted at the return of Open Newbury Street during a press conference about this year’s Boston Open Streets series, noting that the specific dates would be revealed later.

“Open Newbury has become a beloved summer tradition in Boston, and I’m grateful to the many small business owners who collaborate with the City to make this possible,” Wu stated in a press release. “This year, we’re excited to introduce themed days for more unique experiences, including a winter holiday Open Newbury.”

The newly-added winter dates aim to “encourage holiday shopping in the Back Bay,” as per the release. The exact dates for these events will be announced in the future.

“I invite residents and visitors to join us again starting this June to enjoy dining, walking, and shopping in the heart of Back Bay,” Wu said.

Open Newbury Street 2024 will occur on the following dates:

  • June 30

  • July 7, 14, 21, 28

  • August 4, 11, 18, 25

  • September 1

  • Two December dates (TBD)
